The Sawed Off is one of the 2 secondaries to be able to produce impulse. It is available at level 20.
Contrary to the effectiveness of its older brother, the Shotgun, the pellets of the Sawed Off do a measly 12 damage per projectile (18 per headshot) at melee range, however if land all the shots on a Marksman it will kill the Marksman because of the Combined damage. With its mediocre reload time and range drop-off, this weapon is not as well suited for combat as something like the Desert Eagle. However, it does have one advantage: it is the only secondary weapon capable of shotgun-jumping. As such, people will often use it with classes with secondaries to use long range capabilities in spots where previously only the Vince and Rocketeer could get to. In fact, the Sawed Off can propel players higher than the Shotgun. It has also grown increasingly popular for trickshotting, as seen below.
